How Dermaclara Started

If you are anything like us, you’re curious about origin stories. As soon as you find something you love, you need to know where it came from, how it began, and where it’s going–Cue every spin-off, sequel, prequel, and mini-series released by the Marvel Comics Universe, and us binge-watching everything.

Well, the origin of Dermclara comes back to our founder, Ashley King, her work in the medical industry, and the “lightbulb” moment that resulted in the genius behind Dermaclara.

The thing that sets our founder apart and immediately elevates the validity of Dermaclara is Ashley’s history working in the medical industry. Ashely has first-hand knowledge after working in the medical field for over ten years, with most of her time spent in plastic surgery. During the day, she assisted in surgeries, and, at night, she continued her education on everything skin. Our founder developed an acute knowledge of skin reconstruction and the healing process.

Cut to five years ago when Ashley had an emergency appendectomy and was given silicone patches to help heal the scar and was thrilled with the result. And, speed forward to last year, when her newly pregnant sister expressed worry over stretch marks. In response, Ashley had her “lightbulb” moment.

Stretch marks are scars, and silicone can fade scars! Silicone prevents and treats stretch marks safely. The answer to her sister's worries was silicone! That’s when Dermaclara was born (or if this was the MVU–when a new mini-series launched)!

With such awareness and experience, it was inevitable that Ashley founded and set forth to create Dermaclara.

Of course, the question always arises, “why not use belly oils or moisturizers” to treat stretch marks? Oils and moisturizers only prevent skin from drying out and can’t penetrate deeper to treat damage. The molecular structure of most oils and moisturizers is actually too large to penetrate the skin to reach the second layer, the dermis, where stretch marks occur. It is essential to keep the dermis hydrated so skin can stretch without tearing and causing stretch marks.

It’s important to remember that the main function of the skin barrier is to keep things out. Sadly, most moisturizers and serums that can penetrate the first layer of skin often contain unsafe ingredients for people trying to get pregnant, are pregnant, or are breastfeeding. So, although these products make an impact, they also potentially pollute your system during a vital and sensitive time.

Dermaclara silicone patches work by naturally pulling moisture through all layers of the skin, making it 100% pregnancy safe. This process allows the dermis to receive the moisture and collagen it needs to prevent tearing as the belly grows during pregnancy and shrinks post-pregnancy.

So, that is the origin story of Dermaclara and how our Founder, Ashley King, navigated us forward into a truly revolutionary time for stretch mark care and treatment. Without her expertise and perspective, Dermaclara wouldn’t be possible.
