Meet our Founder, Ashley King

Before starting Dermaclara, I had worked in the medical industry for over 10 years, spending a majority of my time in the plastic surgery department learning everything from total reconstruction to the stages of skin healing. I assisted in surgeries during the day and at night I educated myself on everything skin; I wanted to understand every level of the skin healing process and how best to assist it.

The “Lightbulb” moment:

About 5 years ago I had a medical emergency where I had to have my appendix removed. The surgery left me with a nasty scar, but my doctor gave me silicone patches to help heal and reduce its appearance, and they worked amazingly. Then about a year ago my sister became pregnant and she was worried about her stretch marks, that was when I had my light bulb moment! Stretch marks are scars! Silicone can be used not only to fade scars but can also be used to safely prevent and treat stretch marks.

That’s when Dermaclara was born.

Why Silicone Patches Work:

Most of us have tried the typical method of treating our stretch marks, by constantly applying belly oils and moisturizers. Unfortunately, we don’t see any visible reduction in our stretch marks causing us to lose confidence that we will ever be able to get rid of them. But if we look at how belly oils and moisturizers affect our skin compared to silicone patches, then the solution is quite simple.

Many people don’t know this, but the molecular size of most oils and moisturizers is too large to penetrate the first layer of skin. The second layer of skin, the dermis, is where stretch marks occur, so it is important to keep the dermis hydrated so that the skin can stretch without tearing and causing a stretch mark. When we apply oils and moisturizers to our skin we are only preventing our skin from drying out, we are not actually treating damage that is already there. Silicone patches work by creating a natural microclimate that pulls moisture from within the body, up through all the surfaces of your skin. This allows the dermis to receive the moisture and collagen it needs to prevent it from tearing as our belly grows during pregnancy and shrinks post-pregnancy.

The Safest Treatment:

Moisturizers and serums that are able to penetrate the first layer of skin often contain active ingredients that are unsafe for people trying to get pregnant, are pregnant, or are breastfeeding. Silicone patches work by naturally pulling moisture through all layers of your skin making it 100% pregnancy safe.

My Recommendation:

If you are like most of us and have tried belly oils and moisturizers with little to no visible results, then I urge you to try our clinically proven silicone patches. I recommend beginning each treatment by first cleaning your belly using a soft and gentle cream-to-foam cleanser, one similar to our Claraprep. After you have removed any oils and dry skin, you will want to allow your belly time to thoroughly dry before applying our patches. For the best and fastest results, I recommend sleeping in your patches, wearing them each night for an average of 8 hours. You can apply one to each side of your belly and even add an extra one in between them, right in the center of her belly. To keep your patches in place, I suggest wearing a cami, waist trainer, or tight-fitting shirt.

Then each morning you will want to gently remove the patches, clean them with our Patch Prep, and let them air dry before applying them back onto the backing card. After you have done this, I suggest finishing your routine by applying a hyaluronic moisturizer, similar to our Clarasome to the treatment area to keep the top layer of your skin hydrated.

The Results:

Customers who have followed my recommended treatment routine have been able to remove stretch marks of all ages in as little as 30 days, and they have even been able to tighten any loose skin they may have from their pregnancy.

Good luck! And thank you for being a part of the Dermaclara family.
