Back-to-School Checklist for MomsAug 18, 2017
School may have already started for your kids, or it's about to start! If you haven't had a chance to get your kids (or yourself) ready. After all, a new school year means a new start, and a new start means growing minds! Nurture them by giving them all of the organizational advantages, so they can learn and grow!
Shop for new school clothes. All stores are full of fall fashions, with many at reduced prices, so stock up for the year! Get layering pieces like tees, cardigans, hoodies, and tights that can be worn throughout the year.
Get in the homework mindset. Set up an "office" where your kids can do homework daily. Make sure it's comfortable and quiet, away from the TV or other distractions. Stock it with plenty of pens, paper, and other office supplies.
Organize your doorway. Add organizational baskets or cubbies where each child can find his or her shoes, scarves, jackets, sports gear. Label each cubby or basket so there's no confusion.
Stock up the backpack. Make sure the kiddos have everything on their school supply list. It's also a good idea to create a first aid/comfort kit that includes hand sanitizer, hand lotion, bandaids, hair bands, and more.
Post a daily schedule in an obvious place. Include time for breakfast, getting ready, putting homework and projects in backpacks, etc. You don’t want chaotic mornings.
Adjust to earlier bedtimes. Though summertime may have had kids up past their normal bedtimes, once the start of school approaches, help them get used to earlier ones. Create a nighttime routine that includes a soothing bath, book reading, and quick cuddle before tucking in.
